Friday Finds

Well, I think my favorite news is that the Pretty Little Liars series has been extended! I love this series. Of course, the eighth book was a pretty good ending, so I'm curious to see how it'll work out.

The next book will be called Twisted, and is scheduled for release on July 5, 2011.

In the meantime the first book in her new series, the Lying Game, was just released on the 7th. I'm about halfway through and I'm loving it. Check it out while you wait. :)

Well, that's all for this week. I actually discovered a couple of other books, but I'm saving them "Waiting on" Wednesday. ^_^

Harry Potter 2011 Book Challenge

Harry Potter. This is the series that first made me fall in love with reading when I read the first book in first grade. I've grown up with this series. And soon it will all come to an end.

Of course, the books already did. But with the eighth movie coming out on July 15th, the movies will be done too. Unless, of course, JK Rowling decides to write another book (I'm all for that.)

So Daemon's Books has come up with a Harry Potter reading challenge for 2011. I love the idea, so I've decided to participate in it.

For the challenge you basically read one book a month (with the exception of the last book, which is two months so you can see the movie before rereading the book, if you want to. ^_^ ).

Here's the schedule:

1. January 1-31: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (Harry Potter and the Philosopher Stone in the UK)

2. February 1-28: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

3. March 1-31: Harry Potter and the Prizoner of Azkaban

4. April 1-30: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

5. May 1-31: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

6. June 1-30: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

7. July 1 – August 31: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

If you would like to participate then head over to Daemon's Books. You can find that post here:

(For some reason my html wouldn't work. I'm not really sure why, so I just gave up on it.)

I'm Back!

Wow. I can't believe it's been almost a year since I last posted. Life got crazy, as it often does. Huge projects at school during my junior year, then a short and busy summer, and then school again...we only get a month off for break, so it went by pretty quickly. And now here we are at Christmas again.

The good news is I should have more time to post this time around. For my Spring semester I'll be mostly off campus, since I'm doing an internship and college classes at the local community college. I'll still be very busy, but I will have Mondays and Fridays off. So I doubt I'll post every day, but I will be able to post on Mondays and Fridays (usually).

I have missed blogging, and it will be nice to get back to it. Even if nobody does read this blog. ^_^

Of course I think what I'm most disappointed about is that along with putting off the blog, I stopped keeping track of all of my reading challenges. I would have liked to see how well I did. Ah well. It's almost 2011, and with a new year comes a new round of reading challenges. Hopefully I'll do better this time around. :)

It's (not) Monday, what are you reading?

Another week has come and gone, and despite my best intentions I just haven't managed to post another update until today. I've been crazy busy in school since I got back after Christmas break. Projects, reports, assignments in every class...I barely find time to read.

So until the craziness dies down some I'll be lucky to post more than once a week. I do, however, apologize to anyone who has actually been following my blog. :)

I know it's not Monday, but Monday and Sunday's weekly events are the easiest for me to keep up with. (I only got one book last week, Heartless by Sara Shepard if you're interested.)

This week I'm reading:
  • The Dead and Gone by Sara Beth Pfeffer
  • Heartless (Pretty Little Liars) by Sara Shepard

Honestly, I have no idea what's coming next, and I haven't finished any books this last week. I've just been way too busy. Hopefully as work gets more manageable my psot will become more regular.

Thanks for sticking by me! :D

Update, Friday Finds, and In My Mailbox

Wow. I haven't posted since Monday. I apologize for that. I just got back to school this week, and wow. I just got so busy so quickly. I had a mountain of homework and some community service to do on Saturday. We need 200 hours to graduate, but it's a lot of fun. It just keeps me busy. :)

Anyway, I still have quite a bit of work to get done, but I wanted to post. I'm skipping Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday's events simply because I don't have much to say for them right now. But on to business. :)

It's 2010!

First off, Happy New Year, one day late. :) And, with the new year, comes many great things. It's the turn of the decade and it brings the possibility for changes. I, for one, am welcoming the new year. I'm definitely ready to leave 2009 behind.

It also means we get to begind our reading challenges! It's my first year and I'm very much looking forward to it. I've already begun mine, in fact. You can find the challenge blogs on the left side of the screen, I've provided links to them, and I'll let you know through them every time I update.

I hope everybody is doing well on their own challenges, and have fun with them! Let's make this a great year!

Weekly Event--Authors To Be Read

What authors have you heard so much about but never got around to reading? I know I probably have a huge list. As many authors as I've read, there are hundreds more out there that are just as great. The purpose of this weekly event is to highlight one every week that has written books I've either heard a lot about, or books I loved. Authors on my To Be Read list.

This week I chose Sarah Dessen. I've only read two of her many books, Just Listen and Dreamland. Both books were amazing. She spins amazing stories full of romance, pain, and learning the ups and downs of life.

The stories are both realistic as well as beautiful in their own way. Definitely not fairy tales.

I strongly reccommend this authors to those of you who love romance but tire of the fluffy, perfect tales. She's written quite a few books and she's always writing more. The truth About Forever is a popular book by her, and her most recent books are Lock and Key and Along for the Ride. Check them out, they're great stories. I'll definitely be reading more of them. :)

Friday Finds

I haven't had much time this week to really do a lot of book browsing. I was on vacation visiting my family and didn't have a lot of free time.

I didn't come up totally empty though! There was a book I've had on my shelf for a whle that I finally read on the long drive down.

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. What to say about this book? It was amazing. I don't want to say too much about this book, since I plan to write a review for it soon. But if you haven't read it yet, I definitely recommend it. I loved it.
That's all for this week, hopefully I'll have more next time. :)
